
March 26th marks the annual Nike Air Max Day, celebrated by sneakerheads around the World.
Tinker Hatfield designed the first Air Max in 1987. The structure of the sneaker was inspired by Parisian architecture, which ties to Hatfield’s early days as an architect.
The Air technology was developed by M. Frank Rudy, but the idea to expose the Air cushioning in the shoe was Hatfield’s revolutionary idea.
32 years later and new renditions of the sneaker are still being released.
